It’s Not About the Money
To cultivate awareness of your essence, author Ken McLeod suggests the following exercise in “White Paper III”:
Imagine that you are going to die in one minute. The last thing you are going to experience is reading this, sitting in this room, wearing the clothes you are wearing, thinking and feeling what you are thinking and feeling right now. This is it. This is the end of your life. You have no time to do anything about it. You have no time to write a note or make a phone call. Your life is over. You will die in one minute. All you can do is experience what is, right now.

We are prewired to have a “Wanting Mind” that is always craving an experience different from the one we currently have. Whether its more money, love, a discount on that item we can’t live without, or world peace, our “wanting mind” insists that things need to change in order for us to be happy, that what we have right here right now can’t possibly be enough.
