”We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment. Keep in mind however that the pain of discipline weighs ounces and the pain of regret weighs tons” – Jim Rohn
“Again, a big occasional effort does not have the same beneficial effect as less spectacular effort that is more constant.”
~ Matthieu Ricard
“We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.
The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.
If we fix on the old, we get stuck, When we hang onto any form, we are in danger of putrefaction.
Hell is life drying up.
The Hoarder, the one in us that wants to keep, to hold on, must be killed.
If we are hanging onto the form now, we’re not going to have the form next.
You can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs.
Destruction before creation.
– from the Joseph Campbell Companion
I must admit I’m still a little shaken up since coming across this question the other day:
“It’s already a month into the new year. Are you doing anything different in 2013 than you did in 2012? Many people live the same year over and over again 80 times and call it a life.” – Robin Sharma
“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.
Where there is a way or a path through the forest, it is someone else’s path. You are not on your own path. If you follow someone else’s way, you are not going to realize your potential.” – Joseph Campbell
I hope you will give yourself permission to ignore the conventions of society and decide what you want for yourself. There’s no need to keep living solely to become what others think you should be.
p.s. if you haven’t read it yet, I added free PDF downloads of “As A Man Thinketh” to the website including a phone friendly version. It’s a 15 page book that will tell you how to grab the steering wheel of your life.
